ARCHIVE: ELECTRONIC ARTS INTERMIX, PAIK ESTATECharlotte Moorman (Little Rock, 18 novembre 1933 – 8 novembre 1991) ha iniziato a studiare violoncello all’ età di 10 anni, ha studiato prima presso la Bachelor of Arts e poi alla Juilliard School. Nei primi anni 60′ si dedica all’ arte multimediale a alla performance collaborando con l’ artista coreano Nam June Paik.

Nel 1967 fa scalpore suonando nuda per la performance Opera Sextronique di Paik. Il sodalizio con Paik continua, nel 1969 presentano insieme ► TV Bra for Living Sculpture e ►Chamber Music. Nel 1974 si esibisce col napoletano Giuseppe Desiato. Charlotte Moorman è stata coinvolta nel movimento Fluxus, ha frequentato e collaborato con artisti del calibro di John Cage, Joseph Beuys, Yoko Ono, Carolee Schneemann, Jim McWilliams.

Nel 1963, l’ artista multimediale Nam June Paik e suo fratello a costruire un robot, terminato l’anno successivo, grazie all’ aiuto del giapponese Shuya Abe che curò la parte elettrica. L’aspetto antropomorfo è appena riconoscibile, il robot ha un aspetto tipicamente neo-dada.
